A self-guided pause · 2–5 minutes

Notice what’s here, one sense at a time.

This 5-4-3-2-1 exercise offers a simple way to notice details in your surroundings. You can do it aloud or silently, at your own pace.

Start from a position that feels steady.

Sit or stand only if that feels comfortable and stable for you. Adapt the exercise to your physical needs by noticing what is already nearby; you do not need to move, reach, or close your eyes. You can speak each observation aloud or keep it to yourself. There are no responses to record, and Moodskein does not collect or save exercise responses.
